The company was formed in 1998 to open the UK's first organic gastro pub, The Duke of Cambridge in Islington, north London. (owner Geetie Singh pictured top right)

The company is committed to ethical work practices and organic policies and has been highly acclaimed by the media and politicians and has won many awards for its groundbreaking concepts and work practices.

The name of the company was inspired by the wild fruit the sloe berry. It is often used in jams, pies and most famously to flavour gin. The critically acclaimed artist Trish O'Hare created the sloe image for the company.

GEETIE SINGH - MANAGING DIRECTOR
Geetie Singh is Managing Director and founder of Sloeberry Trading ltd, which operates The Duke of Cambridge Organic pub. She formed her company in 1997 and in 1998; she set up the country¹s first Organic Gastro Pub. The Gastro Pub is the only Soil Association certified organic pub in the UK.

Geetie firmly believes businesses must act responsibly and be led by their values. The business has been an outstanding success and the pub is regarded as one of the best eateries in London. Geetie and her business have won many prestigious awards including:
• Publican Magazine­ Business Woman of the Year 2000
• Asian Woman of Achievement - Entrepreneur of the Year 2002
• BBC ­ Mega Mela Award for Enterprise 2003
•Women in Ethical Business Award - Business Award - short listed

Geetie currently holds the following positions:
• Member of the Advisory Group for the Good Catch sustainable seafood initiative.
• Chair of the catering certification standards committee with The Soil Association.
• A member of Ken Livingston's London Food Board which was set up to address London's ecological footprint from a food point of view.
