INTRODUCTION
The worlds first certified organic gastro pub, The Duke of Cambridge opened in December 1998 in the back streets of Islington N1. It won the Time Out Best Gastro Pub 2000 award, was short-listed for Evening Standard Pub of the Year 2000, highly commended for The Soil Association Food Awards 2002 and 3rd Best Sunday lunch in UK in Observer Food Monthly awards 2003 amoung many others.

THE STYLE
The pub is inspired by the classic traditions of the British public house bringing the local community together, but serving wonderful quality organic food and drink in a truly welcoming, comfortable and stylish environment. The pub was built in 1861 and The Duke of Cambridge was the original name, the man that it is named after was an extremely popular Victorian Duke who was a famous philanthropist and his name is one of the most common pub names.

THE FOOD
• Our food is seasonal, organic, fresh, uncomplicated, British rustic food with a regional European influence.
• Our menu changes twice a day.
• We source our ingredients as locally as possible and monitor modes of transport.
• We buy directly from farmers wherever possible.

THE DRINK
• There is an exceptional choice of real ales which are all brewed locally and two organic lagers on draft both from the UK.
• In our diverse wine list there are over 40 delicious organic wines carefully chosen by our consultant Layla Rosa.
• We have a full range of organic spirits, juices and soft drinks.

THE BAR
The pub creates its own sound, be that a buzzing evening or a peaceful afternoon with the papers. There is no music, no jukeboxes, no fruit machines and no TV! The main bar is informal and not restricted by table bookings or timings. You can dine in the bar where you can run a tab or pay as you order which works perfectly for large groups. The menu is chalked up on the huge blackboard at the start of every sitting. Of course, you can just sit in the bar and have a beer, glass of wine or a fair-trade coffee!

THE RESTAURANT
The restaurant, with its conservatory, offers a more formal style of dinning but the menu is the same as the bar and so is the price.
