The Duke of Cambridge

Our Organic Drinks
When the Duke of Cambridge opened its doors in 1998, there was no organic draft ale available, so we persuaded two London breweries to become certified and brew a range of beers and lagers for us. Today, we’re proud to say that all our organic ales and lagers are still brewed in (or very close to) London – the heroic Freedom Brewery and Pitfield Brewery have continued to supply us from the very beginning. Now we have four real ales, two lagers and one cider on draft, as well as a fantastic array of bottled beers and ciders.

Our extensive organic wine list includes some exciting examples from the UK, and we always buy wines from small, independent winemakers with indigenous grape varieties. Anything we buy from abroad is shipped and never air freighted. When researching the environmental impact of wines from Europe versus those from the New World, we were surprised to find that wine driven to England from Italy, for example, causes more pollution per bottle than that which is shipped over from South Africa and New Zealand. We stock as many Fairtrade wines as possible.

We have such a good array of organic spirits and mixers that we launched the UK’s first organic cocktail list. We use small, independent suppliers and brands, including Fever Tree’s wonderful tonic water and Whole Earth Cola.

Our range of non-alcoholic organic drinks are truly delicious – from traditional English lemonade to elderflower bubbly and hot and spicy ginger ale. All our teas and coffees are Fairtrade as well as organic.

Geetie's Cookbook
A new cookbook with recipes from the kitchens of the Duke of Cambridge is now available at Amazon.

"Brilliantly warm and relaxed, with its eclectic mix of scrubbed tables and rickety chairs, the Duke of Cambridge defines laid back Sunday boozing. The beer and wine lists have some great organic gems."
